30 useful expressions to agree & disagree like a pro.😎
Express your opinion with confidence. issue #30
Hey there!
Hope you're doing fantastic! As for me, I could be a bit better. I am feeling a bit under the weather, but it’s ok - I’ll survive! 💪
This week, I'm diving into a topic that's essential for effective communication in English: expressing agreement and disagreement. Whether you're negotiating a deal, sharing ideas in a meeting, or simply having a conversation, knowing how to express your opinions with confidence can truly make a difference.
But before that:

Expressing agreement:
I agree.
Exactly!
That's so true.
You're absolutely right.
I couldn't agree more.
That makes sense.
I see (exactly) what you mean.
That's a good point.
I'm with you on that.
I'm on board with that idea.
Expressing disagreement:
I'm not sure I agree with you.
I see things differently.
I don’t agree!
I (respectfully) disagree.
I'm afraid I can't agree with that.
I'm not convinced by that argument.
I beg to differ. (formal)
I'm of a different opinion (formal) or I have a difference of opinion.
That's one way to look at it, but...
I'm not entirely sold on that idea. (not convinced of an idea)
Partly agreeing:
I can see where you're coming from, but...
I agree with most of what you said, however...
You make a good point, though I think...
I agree in principle, but in practice...
I partially agree, but my concern is...
I'm mostly on board with your idea, except for...
While I agree with the main idea, I have some reservations about...
I'm with you on some aspects, but I feel that...
You've raised some valid points, although I think...
I see your perspective, yet I also think...
Expressing your thoughts and opinions is a vital part of effective communication, and mastering these expressions will help you do just that!
Brain Fact🧠: Use It or Lose It
If you want to make the most out of this newsletter, you'll need to actively engage with the information. You don't have to memorise everything. Choose a few expressions and start incorporating them into your conversations.
Otherwise, you risk forgetting everything, as the principle "use it or lose it" suggests. Just like a muscle that weakens without exercise, brain cells that aren't utilised can weaken over time. So, by regularly practicing and using new expressions, you strengthen neural connections associated with language learning, making it easier to recall and utilise them in the future.
